Who says you can’t have cocktails for breakfast? Not me 😉 This smoothie was my delicious post birthday cleanse. I always have a green smoothie a day, sometimes two, because it is important and sometimes difficult to get your servings of vegetables a day. Green smoothies are an essential way to get your vitamins and minerals, iron, zinc, and raw protein (i usually add raw vegan organic protein powder or raw hemp seeds to my smoothies). Green smoothies are also essential for weight loss, as well as clear and acne free skin because it is also a natural detoxifier which cleanses out bad bacteria from your body and replaces it with the good. It is also important to have green smoothies because it is necessary to consume your vegetables as raw as possible, because when vegetables pass through heat, some, if not all the active enzymes are destroyed (depending on how long you cook it for). So having fresh green smoothies everyday gives your body an active daily dose of nutrients! I am also against antibiotics, but I know that as humans we go through everyday activities and come in contact with people and the environment, so we are exposed to ailments like the flu, or minor bacterial infections. However, going to the doctor and being placed on antibiotics helps destroy the bad and the GOOD bacteria, so these green smoothies are very essential for boosting your immune system so you are less likely to get sick (i haven’t been sick in over a year! And before I started eating clean I would be sick at least once a month). Anyways, enough ranting, I will be posting some green smoothie recipes, but if you are looking for creative variations, check out www.simplegreensmoothies.com and subscribe to the news letter 🙂
