Everyday is a good day for a green smoothie, so have one! It is important to make sure that you use less fruit and more vegetables in your smoothies, because the point is to get your daily serving of vegetables without it tasting bland. Use a little bit of fruit and opt for lower glycemic types (berries, apples, pears) just to give the smoothie a little kick of sweetness 🙂
Recipe:
1/2 cup organic frozen cranberries
1 small organic banana
1 medium sized organic pear
3 cups organic kale leaves
3 cups organic baby spinach
1/2 cup organic parsley
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 scoop gardens life raw chocolate protein powder (or any flavor of choice)
2 cups organic unsweetened almond milk
1 cup cold water
Blend all ingredients in a blender and consume. If it makes it easier, blend all vegetables first with almond milk and water before adding the remaining ingredients.
Is there a particular order that you put things in the blender? My green smoothies come out sort of…not smooth…and not good. Sigh.
It depends on what you are blending. Usually when you are blending vegetables that have less moisture like kale, I would recommend that you blend it first with your servings of water or milk, and pulse it on high for less than a minute before adding the fruits in. It should come out smooth and not chunky. Hope this helps 🙂
that sounds deliciously vitamined…can’t wait to try.
Let me know how you find it 🙂
